Since Christmas, the music department has been hard at work preparing for a full season of performances and festivals. Students jumped right into rehearsals in January, polishing music for the winter concert on February 19, as well as for the upcoming solo and ensemble festival and the large ensemble festival later this spring. On November 14th and 15th, a cast and crew of about 25 students performed “ The Matchmaker, ” written by Thornton Wilder, directed by Sarah Pressnell. This play was written in 1955 and later became the beloved musical “Hello Dolly.”  The Matchmaker follows Horace Vandergelder (Jackson Briggs), a wealthy merchant in 19th-century Yonkers, NY. The last quarter in the Berean music wing has been filled with emotional performances that inspired us all. There were cheers amid the over 30 students from both band and choir as they performed at the State Solo and Ensemble contest in late April.
