The last quarter in the Berean music wing has been filled with emotional performances that inspired us all. There were cheers amid the over 30 students from both band and choir as they performed at the State Solo and Ensemble contest in late April. Every ensemble and seven soloists received superior (1) ratings at the contest. Earlier in the month, the band and choir also participated in the State Large group competition in Buhler, again both receiving 1 ratings. There were few dry eyes as the high school band performed the selection “(not) Alone” by Randall Standridge, and Mrs. Lister explained how her reliance on God had led her to select this particular song for the concert. The audience was also moved as the Berean Singers shared their contest piece “O Love” by Elaine Hagenberg, and we were all reminded that God’s love will not let us go. The joy and many smiles that Mrs. Boettcher and the K-4 grades included during their spring program of “The Kingdom of God” left us all worshipping our Lord and Savior. Don’t forget the “sneaky” grins of the 5th grade band as they played “Midnight Mission” by Brian Balmages and the joyful expressions of the junior high band as they performed a flashmob based on “Ode to Joy”.
We are so grateful for the connection that God has given us to music, and that we can see God work through the emotional performances this past year. Thank you all for supporting the music department as we share our hearts with you each year.
