In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of America’s Declaration of Independence, our music department showcased three patriotic performances.
At the end of April, our K–4 students performed Ameri-Kids, reminding us that our founding fathers placed their trust in the God of the Bible. Our high school students also presented a fantastic patriotic program featuring a variety of American folk songs. The evening culminated with the band and choir performing America the Beautiful together, followed by a spirited finale of The Stars and Stripes Forever, complete with a rousing piccolo solo by senior Macy Mitchell.
The 5–8 grades’ patriotic evening included selections from American history, such as Yankee Doodle, Battle Hymn of the Republic, The Marines’ Hymn, and The Star-Spangled Banner, as well as audience participation in America the Beautiful.
Throughout the semester, our students represented Berean and our Lord Jesus Christ well at pep band events, large-group contests, and solo and ensemble competitions. All bands and choirs received “I” ratings at their respective contests, with twenty “I” ratings awarded to ensembles and twenty-two “I” ratings to solo performances.
