Congratulations to Coach Lewis Wiebe and the Berean Academy boys’ basketball team on advancing to the State Championship this year. The Warriors concluded their season with a hard-fought loss to undefeated Sterling in the 2A State Championship game in Emporia. Sterling remained unbeaten throughout the season and won by 10 points or fewer only twice—both times against Berean. Seniors Nolan Sweazy and Emory Kukula earned All-State honors, with Sweazy being named to the 2A All-State First Team.
In track and field, five school records fell prior to the State Track Meet. Ryley Busenitz set new records in both the high jump and long jump, while Brendan Busenitz set a new record in the pole vault. Adrienne Mullins broke the school record in the discus, and Claria Wiebe set a new mark in the shot put. A sixth record was matched, as Autumn Hirsch tied the existing pole vault record. In addition to these achievements, more than 10 Warriors qualified for the KSHSAA 2A State Track Meet.
Two Warriors have qualified for the KSHSAA 2A State Golf Tournament in Winfield. Mason Balzer finished 8th at Sub-State, and Luke Friesen placed 12th, earning their spots at the state competition. This marks the second consecutive year the pair has qualified together.
Congratulations to Nolan Sweazy and Adrienne Mullins, recipients of the 2025–26 All-Around Athlete awards. Sweazy earned All-HOAL First Team honors in both soccer and basketball, received 4-1A All-State Honorable Mention in soccer, was named to the 2A All-State First Team in basketball, and was selected for the Eli J. Walter All-Tournament Team. Mullins was named All-HOAL Second Team in volleyball, selected to the Spikefest All-Tournament Team, earned All-HOAL Honorable Mention in basketball, and was also named to the Eli J. Walter All-Tournament Team. She is the 2A Regional Champion in discus and set a new school record in the event.
Junior high track and field also had a strong spring season. At the HOAL Meet in Remington, the 7th grade boys and girls each finished 7th. The 8th grade boys placed third, while the 8th grade girls finished as runners-up. In addition to their success in competition, the junior high track team had 100% participation among the enrolled student body this season.
