The Long Road to Spring: Making Each Day Count for Christ

As we near the end of the third quarter of the school year, I am reminded that this quarter is normally the longest in terms of the number of days students are in school. It’s also the longest in terms of how it feels, because we are dealing with inclement weather, illness, and many students' extra-curricular activities. In other words, the third quarter is a busy, taxing time of the school year, when fatigue becomes a factor and energy wanes.
But the third quarter is also when students can make the most academic gains and spiritual growth. With fewer “breaks” on the calendar between New Year’s Day and Spring Break, compared with the fall semester, there are fewer interruptions to the learning process. And with colder weather, students are more likely to stay indoors, giving them more time to focus on their studies and on their walks with God.
On January 9th, at the school board’s annual strategic planning meeting, the Board approved the annual tuition rates for the 2026-27 school year. With that decision, we began the enrollment process for the next school year on January 26th. If you haven’t yet re-enrolled your students for next year, please do so quickly. We opened enrollment to new families on February 17th, so some classes could fill up. Next year's budget includes a new Director of Security Operations position. In a culture that has become increasingly antagonistic toward Christians, the Board decided it was time to have someone on staff with a law enforcement background to help ensure the safety of our students.
I know Spring is coming, and the warmer weather and other distractions will present their own challenges. This is especially true for our Senior Class. Before that happens, let’s live fully in the present, making each day count for Christ. The “home stretch” is just around the corner!
