Image Bearer: What Does it Mean?

Looking back on this school year, I would like to highlight a few blessings to thank God for publicly. First, we had six “Worship Team” chapels. These chapels allowed for more worship together, along with a brief message shared by a senior student. Each of these chapels really connected with the student body, as they were able to hear solid, heartfelt messages within the context of a worshipful atmosphere. The students did a wonderful job! Second, our Spiritual Emphasis Week touched the hearts of many students as they were challenged to consider what it means to be the image bearers of God. In response, senior students began leading their own gatherings on Wednesday mornings, which included a devotional, prayer, and time for sharing and mentorship with upperclassmen. It was neat to see them pursue this desire and grow in the Lord together as a student body. Lastly, our small group time, held every other week and overseen by faculty and staff, benefited the students by allowing quality time for discussions regarding recent chapel messages. God moved in the hearts of the senior girls and gave them a desire to exhibit leadership in facilitating other girls’ groups. They were assigned to a small group to help lead during the second semester, with the oversight of our adults. It was great to see this, and it was a valuable experience for the senior girls and the groups they were leading. “Thank you” to our staff and faculty who oversaw these groups, knowing that it was another thing on their plate. Berean Academy is a school committed to partnering with families to ensure their children are being nurtured in the Lord. We will continue to look for God’s gracious work in the moving and molding of hearts as we invest in providing a healthy context for growth: mind-grounded in truth, community-transformed through relationships, and habits solidified through experience. Thank you for your prayers in this way!
