Brewing Innovation: Entrepreneurship Students Launch “Academy Grind”

The Entrepreneurship class spent the final weeks of the first semester taking their learning from concept to reality as they designed, built, and launched their first official business venture—a student‑run coffee shop named Academy Grind. What began as brainstorming sessions quickly evolved into hands‑on problem‑solving. Students collaborated to craft a full menu, engineer and construct custom steel‑and‑walnut coffee carts, and develop a pricing model that balanced affordability with sustainability. Their goal was simple: create a business that not only serves great drinks but also benefits Berean Academy. All profits from Academy Grind will be reinvested into future student‑designed business concepts and used to support ongoing Berean board priorities, ensuring that each class continues to build on the work of the previous one.
Now being well over a month in operation, Academy Grind is gaining steady momentum. The cart currently offers a selection of flavored espresso drinks, milk‑based specialty beverages, hot tea, and Italian sodas—made with Sprite, flavor add-ins, and optional cream. In February, the shop expanded its offerings to include freshly baked goods such as scones, muffins, and donuts, giving customers even more reasons to stop by.
If you’re on campus attending athletic or school events, we invite you to swing by Academy Grind and enjoy your favorite drink. Your support fuels student creativity, hands‑on learning, and future entrepreneurial opportunities at Berean Academy!
