Berean Academy has had a successful 2024-2025 school year. When you encounter our coaches in the community, please thank them for teaching student-athletes to follow Christ, compete with excellence, and perform for an audience of one. Our coaches do an excellent job of instilling the Warrior Way Philosophy of “Competing hard while building Character within Community, all to the glory of God.”
At the high school level, four teams qualified for the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) State competitions this year. In the fall, soccer, boys’ cross country, and girls’ cross country qualified, while scholars’ bowl qualified in the winter.
This spring, the high school track and field team has performed well. At the Heart of America (HOA) League Track and Field Meet, the boys’ track team finished second while the girls’ track team finished sixth (two points out of third place). Aubrey Harder was the only individual to win a league title, which she did in the pole vault with a vault of nine feet six inches. The boys’ 4x400 team won the league title with a time of 3:30.01. The team headed to Marion for their KSHSAA Regional Meet on Thursday, May 22, and competed at the KSHSAA State Meet in Wichita on May 30-31. Check out the Berean Academy web page for the results of those competitions.
The High School golf team competed well this season. The team traveled to Erie for the KSHSAA 2A Regional meet, where storms shortened the meet to nine holes. Though the team did not qualify for State, two individual golfers qualified. Sophomores Mason Balzer and Luke Friesen both shot a 46 (+10) to finish tied for 11th at the regional. Golfers compete at the KSHSAA State Meet on May 27-28 in McPherson at Turkey Creek Golf Course. Check out the Berean Academy website for final results from the State Meet.
Junior high has finalized its 2024-25 school year with success on multiple fronts. In the fall, the boys’ soccer team won the Berean Soccer Festival, which consists of Berean Academy, Central Christian Academy, Classical School of Wichita, Elyria Christian School, and Hesston Middle School. In the winter, both boys’ and girls’ basketball teams competed hard. The boys’ basketball team qualified for the HOA League Tournament and finished fourth. The junior high track and field teams saw success in the spring. The seventh-grade boys and girls both finished second at the HOA League Meet. Individual seventh-grade champions were Ella Busenitz (1600m, Pole Vault), Gabe Paubel (1600m), and Tatum Garcia (Long Jump). The seventh-grade boys’ Medley Relay also won a league championship. The eighth-grade boys finished sixth and the eighth-grade girls finished fifth at the meet. Individual eighth-grade league champions were Caleb Harder (Pole Vault) and Jersey Busentiz (Long Jump). Additionally, the eighth-grade boys’ 4x100m Relay won the league championship.
