Fall Music Review

The Berean musicians are working diligently on music for concerts, preparing for All-State, and refining skills for the next big performance. This semester our student musicians have had several opportunities to use their talents to glorify God! Early in October, the Berean Honor Choir was privileged to participate in the HOA League Honor Choir. Bradley Vogel from McPherson College conducted the mass choir of over 100 singers. On November 10, nineteen instrumentalists from the Berean Concert Band participated in the HOA League Mass Band. Steve Lueth from Kansas Wesleyan University was the conductor.

Seven high school students had the opportunity to perform on December 4 in the South Central KMEA Honor Groups. Eli Nord, Tayana Nord, Sara Stucky, and Rachel Widler played in the 1234A Honor Band, Kessa Case sang in the treble choir, and Kate Roseberry and Kaitlyn Schanbacher sang in the mixed choir. Fourteen junior high choir students are auditioning for the KMEA All-State Middle-Level Choir. Those selected will rehearse and perform during the KMEA music convention in late February.

A highlight of the semester was the Berean Concert Band being invited to perform with the Friends University Band in early November. Both bands played several pieces individually and then finished off the evening of wonderful music with a combined band of over 100 students! Berean students were inspired by collegiate musicians and privileged to play some beautiful musical selections. Thank you to the musicians for being an example of Psalm 33:3; “Sing to him a new song; play skillfully and shout for joy.”
